~24 hours in Buenos Aires

An absolute miracle happened… we booked an aisle and window seat and we actually got the row to ourselves – whoohoo we actually got a little sleep on the flight.  Cheryl asked if I would like the window seat… my response “heck no snakes fall out of the luggage compartment through the crack by the wall!”  (CNN recently reported a green poisonous snake fell from the overhead compartment on a flight in Mexico)

Long lines in passport control and immigration, but we made it out without issue.  Next would the driver I reserved be outside waiting for us… Yep there he was holding a sign with my name on it… Yay!  Now off to our hotel.  It was a very long drive to the hotel… traffic in this city is incredible, but today we got to experience the aftermath of an accident that really made the highway a mess… then we wouldn’t take the direct route to our hotel and the new route was a bit longer.  Our driver explained that he had to take a different route because there was a “meeting” and the crowds were big in the streets.  He explained that they are having lots of meetings due to new leadership in their government and people are not happy. Hmm, that sounds familiar!

We took a short walk and found a cute little café to have lunch, watched a flower stand on the street while we ate.  It is amazing how many people buys flowers from the street vendors here.  Oh and the dog walkers!  Holy cow they walk huge groups of dogs at one time (all different breeds and sizes) the dogs are extremely well behaved walking in a pack.  Great fun watching all of this.

Lovely dinner tonight that started off with a wonderful bottle of Malbec and ended with our waiter bringing us shots of Limoncello – should have no problem sleeping tonight!

Off to Ushuaia in the morning – one step closer to the Emperors!
